Course Overview
The Marine Electro Technical Officer (ETEO) Course is a 16–17 weeks residential pre-sea training programme, designed as per STCW 2010 standards (without High Voltage endorsement). This course prepares engineering graduates and diploma holders in electrical and electronics disciplines for a promising sea-going career as Electro Technical Officers (ETO).
Duration:16–17 weeks classroom + onboard placement support (up to 6–8 months)
Course Structure & Training
The ETO course at CMC combines theoretical foundations with real-world marine electrical practice. Cadets undergo:
- Training on Full-Mission Engine Room and Electrical Simulators
- Extensive practical sessions in our Ship-in-Campus
- Hands-on use of tools, workshops, electrical control systems & marine panels
- Diagnostics, repairs, troubleshooting of marine electrical/electronic systems
- Development of soft skills, teamwork, safety culture, and leadership
The core training modules are enhanced by real-time applications in our advanced simulation and practical environments:
- Operational training on shipboard auxiliary electrical systems
- Fault diagnosis & preventive maintenance of electrical components
- Use of onboard workshops, tools, and control systems
- Training in safety, discipline, and effective communication skills
- Daily physical and mental development activities to build resilience and team spirit
Career Path & Opportunities
Upon successful completion, candidates receive:
- Indian CDC & INDOS Number
- STCW & DGS Course Completion Certificates
Graduates will be placed onboard ships as Trainee Electro Technical Officers, with career progression leading up to Chief Electrical Officer onboard commercial vessels.
